Deltona Christmas Parade Rules & Guidelines

 

The Deltona Christmas Parade is more than floats and lights—it is a celebration of unity, kindness, and joy. To honor the spirit of Christmas, we ask every participant to demonstrate courtesy, respect, and care in their actions and behavior. These guidelines are designed not only to ensure safety but also to reflect the values of generosity, cheer, and togetherness that make this season so meaningful. By following them, we create a magical and memorable experience for our families, neighbors, and community.

DECOR

All parade entries, including vehicles, trucks, and floats, must be fully decorated in a festive Christmas theme. Please remember this is an evening event, so ensure decorations are bright, well-lit, and visually appealing beneath the glow of night lighting.

SPEED

All vehicles must keep a steady parade pace not exceeding five miles per hour. Maintain at least fifteen feet between entries, and drive safely—avoiding revving engines, tire squeals, or sudden acceleration to ensure a smooth and festive procession. 

FAMILY FRIENDLY

he Deltona Christmas Parade is a family-friendly event. To ensure an enjoyable experience for all, we kindly ask that participants refrain from using inappropriate language, engaging in provocative behavior, or presenting content that is vulgar or disruptive.

MUSIC

All music featured during the parade must embody the joyful spirit of Christmas. Please choose songs that are holiday-themed, uplifting, and appropriate for all ages, helping create a warm, family-friendly atmosphere that fills the parade route with cheer and celebration.

Candy Distribution

Sharing candy is part of the fun, but safety first. 

  • Candy must be handed out by walkers in the group. 
  • Absolutely no throwing of candy from floaters or by walkers. 

Restrictions & Disqualification

We want the parade to remain safe and family-friendly for all.

  • Administrators reserve the rights to refuse or remove any entry that is inappropriate or violates these rules.
  • Parade staff decisions are final; disqualification may occur before, during, or after the parade.
  • Disqualified groups may be banned from future parades.

Santa Claus Policy

To preserve the magic for the children, there can only be one Santa.

  • No entry may portray Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus.
  • The committee will provide the one official Santa for the parade.

Parade Timing

Arrive early and be ready to roll!
Lineup begins: 4:00 PM
Parade starts: 6:00 PM

Fees & Registration

Your entry secures your spot in this cherished community tradition.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable, unless the parade is canceled..
  • Entry fees and spots are non-transferable.
  • Deadline: November 30th — or when capacity is reached.

Entry Requirements

Creativity is encouraged, but safety and family-friendliness are a must.

  • All floats must be decorated with Christmas theme:
  • No flyers, handouts, or brochures.
  • Music must be holiday-themed, tasteful, and family-friendly.
  • No stopping for unapproved reasons or performances.
  • No alcohol consumption on floats.
  • Motorized floats must run with running lights only (no headlights).
  • No open flames, air horns, or excessive noise.
  • No one may jump off a float during the parade.
  • Floats must maintain 15 feet spacing.
  • Maximum speed: 5 MPH.
  • No revving engines or squealing tires.

 

Entry Types & Definitions

Entries come in all shapes and sizes—here’s how we define them.

  • Walking Groups: Groups not accompanying a motorized entry (must provide estimated number of walkers at registration).

  • Cart or ATV: A single golf or utility cart or ATV.

  • Auto: A single automobile (multiple autos must be registered and paid individually).

  • Float: A single oversized commercial auto or a trailer pulled by an auto or truck.

Walking groups accompanying floats are included free with any paid entry (number of walkers must be provided)
